Dr Rob Mastrodomenico achieved a 1st class degree in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading. Thereafter, he stayed on at Reading to study for a Statistics PhD. Following the completion of his studies worked as a Quantitative Analyst at a statistical consultancy which undertook statistical research and provided sports modelling services.
In 2011 he started up his own company called Global Sports Statistics and has continued working in the sports modelling sector. Here he runs a team containing Data Scientists and Software Engineers who provide consultancy services to a variety of clients. Rob conducts Python training courses for the Royal Statistical Society and has seen his courses feature on Sages online training.
Rob has been actively involved in the RSS for the last 6 years and has sat on both Council and the Executive Committee as well as being the previous Honorary Officer for Membership. Rob is the current outgoing chair of the Statistics in Sports Section and Chairs the Statisticians for Society scoping committee. Rob is also a Statistical Ambassadors for the Royal Statistical Society and has made various media appearances including BBC Breakfast, BBC News and BBC World news speaking about various statistical issues. He has also appeared on multiple radio stations and gained national newspaper coverage.
