Freelance Data Scientist
David Kane is a freelance researcher and data scientist specialising in data for, by and about charities and wider civil society. David has over ten years’ experience working with charity data, having worked for NCVO, CAST and the Greater London Authority. He now works with charities of all shapes and sizes, including foundations, infrastructure bodies and frontline charities, helping them make the most of their data and data made available by others.
David is a passionate believer in the value of open data, and how charities can use it to understand their operating environment and make decisions based on the best available evidence. David has created the findthatcharity.uk website to help people use charity data and blogs about data in the sector at drkane.co.uk. At NCVO David was an author of the UK Civil Society Almanac and an expert on the voluntary sector’s finances and characteristics.
